Mia Rees, 31, has been chosen as the Welsh Conservative’s candidate for the upcoming Welsh parliament elections for the Cynon Valley.
Throughout her life Mia has strived to provide a voice for communities who aren’t listened to.
She has worked for Welsh charities focused on homelessness and supporting young people into education, training and employment.
Mia said:
"Growing up my dad was in the military and my mum a teacher. They installed in me a strong sense of public service from an early age.
Therefore, when the opportunity to represent and work for the people of the Cynon Valley came up I jumped at the chance."
Mia's top priorities for the Cynon Valley are:
+ Jobs and Economy – Good jobs and a strong economy
We need a strong Welsh economy which delivers jobs and opportunities for local people.
+ Health - Reliable, local, safe health services.
Covid-19 has put more pressure on our Welsh NHS than ever before. Our hard working staff deserve support and patients deserve the best possible care.
+ Education - Excellent, quality, community schools.
We have schools in Cynon Valley with terrible Estyn reports and it is not good enough. Our young people deserve the very best education and chance of success in their futures.
Mia is looking forward to discussing these issues, and many more, with residents in the Cynon Valley in the run up to May 6th 2021.
Currently Mia is a Councillor and works in education policy. In her own time she enjoys mountain biking and hiking with her husband and dog.
