Following a great campaign, Maesycoed resident and Welsh Conservative candidate in the Rhondda Ward By-election, Alexander Francis Davies finished a respectable third - beating the Liberal Democrats and the Communist Party candidate.

Though the seat was ultimately won by Plaid Cymru, Alexander and his team fought an excellent by-election campaign and there were many positives to be taken away from the result on the night.

Commenting on the result, RCT Conservative Council Group Leader, Cllr Joel James, said, "Alexander was an excellent candidate, who worked extremely hard throughout the campaign - I have no doubt that a positive future in politics awaits him. I also want to pay tribute to the Federation's Deputy Chairman, Community Councillor Adam Robinson, who organised Alexander's campaign. Adam work tirelessly throughout the campaign and the result we have achieved could not have happened without him."
